POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant – Inventory Costing position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to build a strong foundation in accounting and financial analysis within a retail and apparel environment. You will be supporting core inventory and costing processes, working closely with finance, supply and logistics teams.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Support Inventory Costing Activities:
Assist in the input and maintenance of cost sheets in SAP for finished goods and ensure cost data is accurately recorded.
Help with landed cost reviews, including freight, duty, and other charges.
GRIR (Goods Receipt / Invoice Receipt) Support:
Review GRIR aging reports and follow up on unmatched receipts and invoices.
Work with international finance, logistics, and operations to clear discrepancies.
Month-End Close Support:
Assist in preparing journal entries for inventory-related transactions such as:
Merchandise in Transit (on-the-water inventory)
Cost adjustments and inventory valuation entries
Ensure accurate and timely data submission for monthly close processes.
Variance Analysis:
Help prepare reports on Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and other cost differences.
Assist in basic analysis to explain key trends in freight, duty, and product costs.
Documentation and Audit Preparation:
Maintain organized records to support audit and compliance requirements.
Assist with compiling audit schedules and responses.
Team Collaboration & Learning:
Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support inventory and cost accounting activities.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the creation of standard costs, ocean landing rates, and various other pricing conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience: 1–5 years of relevant internship or work experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or general accounting, preferably in a retail or apparel environment.
Working knowledge of SAP costing functions is highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
Skills: Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas); experience with BI/reporting tools is a plus.
Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Good communication skills and ability to work with global teams.
