The Team

The Tommy World of Men division is one of the main business drivers, based in the Amsterdam global head office. The team is split into 5 sub teams;

  • Design
  • Product Development
  • Planning
  • Merchandising
  • Technical Development / Pattern Making


These 5 teams collaborate closely in a dynamic and informal environment to create exceptional products that combine outstanding design, premium quality, and global consumer appeal.

The Position

The Senior Product Developer Wovens Shirts is coordinating the product development process from sketch until final product in stores. The product is developed, produced, controlled and achieved based on the standards and goals established in the division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Design team in the initial sourcing process by collaborating with textile agents, vendors, and mills to identify emerging fabric trends, drive innovation, and secure competitive pricing.
  • Guide the Design team throughout the development process by highlighting cost impacts, product constraints, and quality considerations, and proposing effective solutions when adjustments are required.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising team to ensure the collection effectively meets market trends and customer needs while achieving margin targets. Maintain accurate product information within the PLM system and support the development of a commercially balanced assortment.
  • Responsible for product management throughout the development process, by attending key meetings (e.g. collection mapping, proto review, pre-sms review, final price and SMS review), and advising on possible improvements of product and margins.
  • Collaborate closely with the technical team to ensure optimal product fit and measurements, including active participation in product fitting sessions.
  • Partner with the Planning team to manage collection size and assortment, ensuring alignment with business targets and achievement of margin objectives.
  • Negotiate FOB prices with your SVC counterparts throughout the development and production process, ensuring margins are maintained for actual order quantities.
  • Send vendor requests for proto’s and SMS to vendors, elaborate on requests during handover using technical packs, sketches, and measurement charts.  
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data in PLM (e.g. BOM, prices), by continuously updating the system.
  • Provide analyses and reporting on KPIs related to product development (e.g. margins, vendor performance, season evaluation).
  • Advise Buying & Planning on pre-booking of raw materials to ensure timeliness of style bookings for bulk delivery.


The Ideal Candidate

  • Higher textile education
  • +5 years experience in product development - preferably in woven shirts
  • Used to working under pressure and adhering to deadlines
  • Good communication skills in English- written and oral
  • Excellent time management and very strong organizational skills 
  • Strong product development expertise in interlinings, stitching techniques, needlework and garment construction 
  • A confident team player
  • Ability to change and adjust to new systems and set ups - previous knowledge in PLM and Excel is an advantage
  • The ability to effectively collaborate with various teams and efficient problem solving skills
  • Tenacious, assertive and determined attitude
