The Team

Within the Tommy kids  design team, our mission is to offer the consumer the very best product possible, ensuring alignment with the company's overarching goals such as Win With Product. This team is based at the PVH headquarters in Amsterdam. 

The Position

This opportunity will focus on all girls knit product categorier. You will report into the Design Director and work closely together with your fellow designers building a cohesive collection and driving the design vision against the Classic American Cool brand DNA. You are required to map out and design into an exciting, commercial range - from essential to fashion styles - based on the seasonal concept, sales, market demands and current trends befitting the kids  brand and consumer. Collaborating with the larger product team such as Product Development, Graphics, Merchandising and Tech, the aim is to offer our Tommy Hilfiger kids customer the best product possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct product research based on current trends befitting the TOMMY HILFIGER kids brand and consumer.

• Map out the competitor landscape through category offence.

• Create seasonal sourcing briefs to send to vendors to ensure news value in quality, silhouette, trimmings and finishes.

• Map out and sketch the full girls knits product category resulting in a clear, commercial build-up, always keeping the range plan in mind. The style count will vary from approx. 55 styles depending on the season.

• Create complete garment work sheets/ tech packs to communicate your ideas with the vendors and the Product Development team and ensure a high-quality product outcome.

Conduct fittings and see to the administrative follow-up throughout the various phases in the design development process.

• Partner with kids cross-functional teams and together deliver the creative vision from initial idea to final product to consumer experience.

Prep and present your designs to key stakeholders, both digitally and non-digitally.

Travel for design development and production purposes when required.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor degree in Fashion Design (apparel) or an equivalent design diploma.

• A minimum of 5 years experience in Kids design, preferably in the various categories.

• A strong technical knowledge on sweater construction, yarn qualities and stitch techniques.

• A strong understanding of the Tommy Hilfoger  Classic American Cool brand DNA.

• An affinity with youth culture is highly preferable.

• A creative, yet commercial design handwriting.

• A keen eye for current trends and the ability to adapt these to the Tommy Hilfiger kids consumer.

• Solid skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator e.a. technical CAD sketching.

• Strong time management and organisational skills.

• A hands-on, collaborative mentality and excellent communication skills.

• Strong skills in the English language, both verbal and in writing.
