About the role:
The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in EMEA plays a crucial role in driving the company's financial health and strategic decision-making. This team is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analysing financial performance to provide insights that support business growth and efficiency. The team collaborates with various departments to ensure alignment with financial goals, identify trends, and recommend actions to optimize resources. The FP&A team supports the organisation as the leader of P&L Management across the enterprise, with responsibility for Performance Management, Strategic Assessment, gross margin management, and cost control, ultimately driving growth and profitability for our business.
The Senior Manager Gross Margin & Strategic Planning is responsible for leading the long-range planning process while navigating Gross Margin end-to-end process ensuring short-, mid- and long-term value creation. You will lead the company Gross Margin controlling and forecasting processes, while ensuring cross-functional alignment on the overall brand and channel strategy. This role is key in driving profitability across EMEA, including but not limited to Go-In Margin expansion initiatives (through strategic pricing and cost of goods sold optimization), as well as identifying profitability improvements opportunities and navigating the senior management through risks and mitigating actions.
What you'll do:
• Strategic Planning: Leading the long-range planning process and establishing rolling forward routine, along with scenario analyses, and recommendations to drive/improve company profitability.
• Gross Margin navigation: strong Gross Margin end-to-end process navigation to drive value creation and effectiveness short, mid- and long term, while identifying drivers of Gross Margin improvements.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Leading overall Gross Margin budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring the timely submission of accurate financial plans and forecasts. Owning submission of the margin drivers forecasts to Corporate.
• Reporting & Controlling: Oversee Gross Margin reporting process and consolidating channels specific margin drivers into overall EMEA picture. Close cooperation with Retail & Wholesale GM Managers ensuring data accuracy and understanding of the business drivers.
• Executive Reviews: Preparing and leading regular and ad hoc Gross Margin performance reviews to senior management and executive team, highlighting key trends, variances, and areas for corrective action, including risks and opportunities analysis.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with commercial and brand leaders to drive continuous Go-In Margin improvements and ensure alignment of the financial plans with commercial & brand strategy. Cooperation with various departments on margin forecasting accuracy improvements.
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance efficiency in reporting and analysis through standardization & automation.
• Leadership: Leading, mentoring, and supporting the team, contributing to best practices, knowledge building, collaboration, and professional growth.
Measures of Success:
• GM% improvement by taking product cost out in partnership with brand, buying and merchandising teams
• Build data analytics around gross margin composition (benchmarks, estimations etc.)
• Solid long-range planning process established including cross-functional alignment and rolling execution
What you'll bring:
• Over 10 years' experience in financial planning and analysis or controlling, preferably in a global fashion or consumer goods retailer.
• Deep understanding of gross profit drivers and overall P&L, including the link with Balance Sheet.
• Experience in Supply Chain, product cost, product profitability or similar.
• Strong commercial acumen & financial knowledge, with the ability to translate business goals into operational execution.
• Strong modelling and analytical skills in interpreting complex financial data using tools like Excel and Power BI, identifying key trends, and sharing actionable insights with key stakeholders to drive performance optimization.
• Adept at cross-functional collaboration, working seamlessly with various departments to integrate financial strategies & long-term forecasting with business operations.
• Proven agility and ability to adapt to new ways of working in the matrix organisation; championing future processes, interfaces, and ways of working.
• Strong leadership capabilities, excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a track record of developing, mentoring, and inspiring high-performing teams.
• Fluency in English.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or economics preferred. Financial certificate (eg. CIMA, CFA) will be a plus.
