The VP of Design Men’s & Women’s Outlet is responsible for creating a strong commercial interpretation of the mainline Apparel range as well as covering the specific Outlet needs. Leading theinterpretation of the Merchandising Planning into a conceptual creative and commercial vision, designing the seasonal collections for Men’s & Women’s Outlet Apparel.
The VP of Outlet answers into the SVP of Global Apparel Design and will be a KEY close partner on planning out the Outlet POV for Global Calvin Klein.
Leading the Outlet collections with a clear team direction for Big Ideas, organized collection plans, clear communicating of design intent to Design Leadership.
In addition to building the collection with the Outlet team, the VP of Outlet Design will work on material and color research, fabric, product development, building product stories, marketing attribution, and raw materials platforms.
Oversee the Off Price and Licensing team with ongoing touchpoints and clear delegation of responsibility of the workload, deadlines and deliverables.
Strong Leadership skills such as clear communication, strong team engagement skills, accountability and listening skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Provide overall creative direction and vision for new product design development focusing on specific classification.
Develop design concepts to suit partners' needs while adhering to brand standards and design aesthetic
Leads the conceptual thematic concept boards and design concepts according to merchandise plans and schedules including compiling material references and inspiration images, where applicable. Assist with the creation of all seasonal boards and presentations.
Prepare all presentations for the regional partners for the Outlet collections.
Ensures timely development of line by adhering to time and action calendar.
Helps the team to adhere to deadlines by managing micro deadlines and check in points.
Mentor Design team.
Ability to recognize trends; ability to source trend-right materials and trims.
Build a strong relationship with business counterparts by developing strong understanding of business, industry trends and bestseller factors and specific product cost factors. Stay abreast of retail landscape for trend and product opportunities.
Partner with external partners on sourcing appraisals and recommendations.
Partner with Supply teams to maintain clear and concise communication to meet all product deadlines and keep programs on track.
Keep Supply teams and merchants updated in all communications. Consult with product team prior to sensitive vendor communications if cost, lead-time or minimum implications exist.
Assign specific assignments to design staff and monitor accordingly for a cohesive presentation to Creative Director.
Oversee revisions, correspondence and approvals. Maintain seasonal project communication consistent with brand standards.
Travels to regions to oversee product development.
Visit the Outlet stores on a regular basis to ensure the product storytelling and merchandising strategy are strong and coherent.
Visit the Licensing partners for product presentations and Showroom set up to ensure Brand connectivity and elevated execution.
Present the Seasonal Off Price collections to Design Leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience: 15+ Years of experience in design at a bridge or collection level; 6+ years in management capacity leading successful teams.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in design or Fashion.
Skills:
Must operate effectively across cultural and time-zone barriers
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
Possess high fashion aesthetics
Flexibility to meeting strict deadlines
Have strong commercial understanding
