POSITION SUMMARY:

The Designer I, Swim will assist to craft  and complete product on a global creative season direction and business needs under the mentorship of the Design Director.  Candidate will develop and produce woven/tailoring as per product strategy for multiple businesses from concept through to bulk.  Focus will be on menswear.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Work with Design Director and design team to research; develop concepts, colors, fabrics, and silhouette designs based on the global creative direction and emerging trends within the marketplace.
  • Build a global swim collection each season focusing on updates to commercial core and Hero/essentials.
  • Lead with innovation across multiple collections.
  • Exhibit flexibility to accommodate emerging opportunities in the business and areas of acceleration in the calendar.
  • Communicates Raw Materials and product development needs to Supply and Raw Materials teams to begin the season
  • Launches proto development with the in-house atelier and overseas factories.
  • Works with the team to maintain the progression of design, taking initial ideas from the Design Director, sourcing reference bodies from the Calvin Klein archive, as well as communicating sketches and research.
  • Participates in crafting color palettes, research, and color maintenance. Assists with the creation and development of color and concept presentation boards.
  • Assists in developing initial concepts by actively participating in design working sessions with Design Director; inclusive of general direction around print, color and graphic application.
  • Builds and implements graphic packages and trim sheets.
  • Responsible for handling timely completion of all tech packs for the seasonal collection
  • Participates in fittings with design and technical teams; working closely with all teams involved and understanding Design Director’s vision for all styles; recaps meetings to the cross – functional team.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: Proven track record preferred; background in garment construction with experience in ApparelHigh level fabric knowledge of swim category, plus a strong technical understanding of fit and construction

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Design

Skills:   

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.
  • Proficiency in Centric
  • Ability to create technical illustrations of styles.
  • Excellent sense of color is required.
  • Excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills. 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to establish good relationships with key parties and department staff.
  • Flexibility to deadline demands, seasonal schedules.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, think creatively, be open-minded and optimistic
  • Strong eye for trends and current industry news/development

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

          

Internal: Design, Merchandising, Marketing, Sourcing/ Supply, Technical Design, Raw Materials, and Sales teams    

External: Factories and Mills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise an Assistant Designer.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A

DECISION MAKING:

  • Must be flexible and responsive to design and calendar changes
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task effectively

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY: Must have strong technical creative ability and be able to sketch effectively and clearly articulate fit and design elements.

ENVIRONMENT: Strong ability to multi-task under a fast paced environment

                                                                                                                  

Pay Range:$77,800 - $95,000

PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills. PVH is committed to providing a market-competitive total rewards package to eligible associates, which includes diverse and robust health and insurance benefits to meet the varied needs of our associates and an above-market 401(k) contribution to help our associates save for retirement. Additional Compensation: This role is bonus eligible.
