The Team
The LAB division is within the product department and is focused on the creation of exciting projects that sit outside of the main Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Jeans offers. A small team that works simultaneously on projects across both brands mostly with external partners on collaborations as well as internal briefs.
The LAB exists to create capsules that celebrate the DNA of the brands to drive brand awareness, brand credibility and increase brand desire.
The Position
This position within the LAB team is an exciting opportunity to join one of the most fast-paced and exciting teams within PVH.
Reporting to the Senior Design Manager you will be working across both the Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Jeans brands on a diverse range of design projects to drive elevation and create a halo effect on our brands. Previous examples of these projects have included collaborations with external brands and designers, celebrity dressing for key fashion events, creative concepts for seasonal brand direction, and internal brand capsules.
Responsibilities
Conduct in depth trend, competitor and conceptual research to be used as input for concepts per project/season including mood, silhouette, fabrication and trims.
Sketch styles, eventually translating them into digital CAD’s. Creating overviews and colour ups.
Collate, stylize and present ideas and concepts to key stakeholders. Both digitally and in person.
Create detailed Tech Packs and sourcing briefs to be able to communicate your styles/ideas to product development teams and vendors efficiently throughout the critical path. Maintain and work to key deadlines.
Attendance and participation at proto reviews, fittings, costing meetings and merchandising meetings throughout the critical path.
Assist other senior members of the design team with Ad-Hoc tasks and projects.
Be part responsible for the continual running of an effective and organized design studio.
Travel for design research, presentation meetings and development of styles.
Be present at key milestone events such as style outs, photoshoots and external events.
Work cross-functionally with Product development, Fit technician, Merchandising partners to create the best product.
The Ideal Candidate
This position requires a dynamic, organized, and agile multi-product designer who is comfortable designing from high-priced statement fashion pieces to commercially conceived styles that are important for the business. The ideal candidate will work across all genders and categories of apparel products and will have a thorough understanding of the design development of a collection.
A Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with Bachelor/Master’s degree in Fashion Design (Apparel), or the equivalent in experience.
Design, Construction and technical knowledge across all apparel product categories (Sweaters, Jersey, OTW, Leather, Denim, Wovens, Tailoring).
Very strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills. Hand sketching skills are a bonus.
Good eye for fit, garment construction, attention to detail and fabric understanding.
Very strong organization skills and able to be flexible; This position requires being able to work on multiple different seasons and projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills. High proficiency in verbal and written English language.
Up to date with current fashion trends, competitor landscape and cultural moments.
Understanding of the Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Jeans brand DNA and American pop culture references.
High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Great attention to detail and a willingness to meet deadlines with intensive milestones.
