Job Overview

The Fabrics Manager will be responsible for overseeing the fabric selection, development, and procurement processes for Tommy Hilfiger’s collections. Reporting directly to the Director Fabrics, you will collaborate closely with design, product development, and sourcing teams to ensure that the materials used in our products meet the brand’s high standards for quality, innovation, and sustainability. This role requires an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge and expertise in fabric management. The ideal candidate will work independently, solve complex problems, contribute to the creation of new processes and standards, and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Being a team player and demonstrating PVH Leadership Behaviors are critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Fabric Development & Sourcing:
    • Partner with designers and product developers to select fabrics that align with seasonal themes and the brand's aesthetic.
    • Lead the sourcing and development of innovative fabrics, ensuring they meet quality, sustainability, and budgetary goals.
    • Manage relationships with fabric suppliers, fostering strong partnerships and identifying new sourcing opportunities.
  • Quality Control:
    • Oversee all aspects of fabric quality, including test evaluations, to ensure materials meet Tommy Hilfiger’s stringent standards.
    • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented efficiently.
  • Sustainability:
    • Drive sustainable fabric initiatives, sourcing materials that support Tommy Hilfiger’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
    • Stay informed on the latest sustainable fabric technologies and incorporate them into product offerings.
  • Invoice Management:
    • Fully own the invoice process, ensuring that all fabric-related invoices are accurate and meet the company’s requirements.
    • Review, approve, and ensure timely payment of invoices, coordinating with the finance team to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Planning & Execution:
    • Plan and execute work independently with minimal guidance, based on input from the Director level.
    • Provide input to the Director on process improvements, identifying challenges and bottlenecks in the workflow.
    • Manage priorities effectively and set boundaries to maintain health and well-being for yourself and others.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Solve a wide range of issues where precedent may not exist, demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
    • Contribute to the definition of processes and standards within the discipline of fabric management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with design, product development, and merchandising teams to ensure that fabric choices align with design intent and product timelines.
    • Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure on-time delivery of fabrics for production.
    • Act as a true team player, contributing to a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Trend Analysis & Reporting:
    • Stay current on fabric trends, innovations, and market developments.
    • Provide regular updates to the Director Fabrics, and other senior management on fabric sourcing, quality, and sustainability metrics.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
    • Network with senior internal and external personnel within your area of expertise to gain cooperation and support for fabric initiatives.
    • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, sharing knowledge and contributing to the professional development of the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Fashion Design, or a related field, or the equivalent in experience.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in fabric management, ideally within a premium or luxury fashion brand.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabric properties, textile manufacturing, and quality control processes.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
  • A passion for sustainability with a track record of incorporating sustainable materials into fabric sourcing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in English is required; Italian language skills are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience managing the invoice process, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, plan and execute tasks with minimal guidance, and manage priorities effectively.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a commitment to fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate PVH Leadership Behaviors, including integrity, respect, and accountability.
