The Position
The Design Manager of CTB (close to body) Women’s wear division has a strong understanding of the product they are responsible for, (underwear, swim, lounge & ath-leisure). This designer works closely with the other design team members in CTB, merchandise and Product development teams. Reporting into and working with the VP of design womenswear and collaborating with other apparel design functions.
The Design manager has a strong understanding of CTB product constructions and a high level of material knowledge, with experience across all CTB product including underwear, swim, lounge & ath-leisure. The Designer needs to have a good understanding of trends, shapes, and fabrications and how these can be interpreted into brand right product.
The key objective is to ensure creative commercial product is designed and developted for the Women's wear division, in line with the Tommy Hilfiger brand identity.
Key Responsibilities:
Design the vision for CTB product category at Tommy Hilfiger.
Working with a team of senior, Junior and Assistant Designers (including in-house and freelance) working to set global concepts, adhering to timelines and confident to present ideas to internal management and buyers.
Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate the VP of women’s wear design vision, concepts and ideas to the junior design team members, Product Development teams and Merchandising teams.
Working with the teams to develop silhouette, construction, fabric concepts, washes and trims.
Lead multiple projects from conception to completion in accordance with deadlines.
Strong understanding of CTB product is a must, with a keen eye for details and attention to the functionality of the product.
Ensuring CADs are correct, checked, executed and submitted for all design projects in an accurate manner and in good time with regards to critical path and commercial business deadlines
Work closely with Tech and Product Development teams on garment fittings, based on block systems and new seasonal complex styles. Ensure all styles are to the highest possible standard and help find solutions to any problems that may come up during the fitting process.
Excellent communication skills and experience developing product directly with factories in Asia and Europe in a clear and concise manner. Experience issuing highly detailed technical spec files to suppliers.
Focus on updates to commercial core product whilst also adding newness, fashion and innovation.
Work well in a team environment, utilizing strong communication skills.
Pitch ideas confidently and present the creative vision clearly to the sales and Merchandising teams.
The Ideal Candidate:
7+ years of experience in Fashion Design.
Graduated at a degree level or equivalent
Excellent computer skills (Illustrator/Photoshop) & hand-drawn skills
3D Design experience a plus (Not essential)
PLM experience a plus
Business English fluency (both written and verbal)
Ability to translate trends into a commercial collection with a contemporary handwriting
Willing to travel for inspiration & vendor visits.
Experienced in working in fast-paced dynamic environments.
