The Team
The Global Consumer Brand Experience team is responsible for crafting immersive, multi-sensory environments that captivate consumers and drive brand loyalty. Through Retail Concept Design, Visual Merchandising, Windows & Showrooms and Store Experience, we elevate engagement across all channels and markets with a 360° approach.
Balancing creativity with commercial strategy, we ensure global consistency with local adaptability, shaping the physical identity and consumer experience across retail, wholesale, and pop-up environments. The Position
The Director Concept & Interior Design is a strategic and leadership role responsible for providing direction to managers and professional associates in the development of innovative retail design concepts and consumer environments. This position ensures that the brand’s vision is successfully brought to life across all store formats while maintaining consistency, operational feasibility, and scalability.
The Director is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams, overseeing store concept execution across global and regional markets. This role requires developing departmental plans, setting organizational priorities, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. Decision-making is guided by department and regional objectives, ensuring an optimal balance between brand storytelling, commercial impact, and operational excellence.
This position also leads a team of designers, architects, and retail experience specialists, exercising full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, and disciplinary actions. The Director collaborates cross-functionally with key business stakeholders, including regional store development teams, marketing, windows, and visual merchandising, ensuring seamless execution and impact of store concepts.
Strategic Leadership & Concept Development
Provide leadership to teams of managers and professionals, ensuring alignment with organizational and business priorities.
Define and implement the global store concept strategy, ensuring departmental objectives are met while balancing innovation, scalability, and commercial viability.
Develop and oversee the execution of store design guidelines, ensuring consistency across retail, wholesale, and pop-up environments.
Lead creative visioning and storytelling for store concepts, ensuring that all design elements enhance consumer engagement and brand elevation.
Oversee the research and adoption of emerging retail trends, materials, and experiential technologies to ensure competitive differentiation.
Leverage specialized knowledge in experiential design and spatial branding to enhance store concept innovation and consumer immersion.
Retail Concept Execution & Store Experience
Lead the development and refinement of store formats, ensuring alignment with brand positioning, business needs, and consumer expectations.
Oversee the creation of fixtures, materials, and visual merchandising displays, ensuring they support both brand storytelling and commercial effectiveness.
Partner with regional store development teams to translate global concepts into localized market executions while maintaining brand integrity.
Ensure that store concepts optimize customer journey flow and directly impact commercial performance.
Evaluate the effectiveness of store design concepts against store-level KPIs, including sales performance, conversion rates, and ROI, using insights to refine future strategies.
Lead and manage end-to-end global rollouts of store concepts, ensuring consistency, scalability, and seamless adaptation to regional market needs.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with executives and senior leaders across Visual Merchandising, Store Development, and Marketing to align store concepts with broader business strategies.
Partner with Retail and Wholesale teams to ensure store layouts and concepts enhance both consumer experience and commercial success.
Collaborate with external agencies, design studios, and internal creative teams to bring design innovation and executional excellence to store concepts.
Sustainability & Operational Excellence
Drive sustainability initiatives in store design, materials, and construction processes, ensuring alignment with the company’s ESG commitments.
Optimize budgets, materials, and operational efficiencies, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or innovation.
Develop and implement departmental best practices, ensuring operational consistency across global and regional teams.
Team Leadership & Development
Exercise full management authority over a large team, including performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of retail and architectural design trends.
Set key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure design effectiveness, consumer engagement, and concept execution success.
Guide and mentor team members on industry-standard design tools and software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite, to ensure high-quality execution and continuous skill development.
Requirements
Master’s degree in architecture, interior design, retail design, or equivalent experience. Advanced certifications in experiential design, environmental branding, or spatial design are a strong plus.
10+ years of experience in retail store concept design, with a strong focus on in-house development for premium/luxury retail environments or architecture within a global fashion or lifestyle brand. Extensive expertise in concept design is essential, including full ownership of concept creation from initial vision to execution, material innovation, fixture development, and spatial storytelling—translating brand identity into immersive physical spaces from retail stores/environments, shops, and outlet channels.
5+ years of progressive leadership experience, specifically in leading concept design teams and setting long-term creative direction.
Proven expertise in concept and interior design innovation, with a portfolio demonstrating full ownership of retail store concepts from ideation to execution, including material innovation, fixture development, and immersive brand storytelling.
Deep knowledge of architectural planning for retail environments, including consumer journey mapping, zoning, and strategic layout development. Proven experience driving commercial results at scale is a must.
Proven experience in evaluating and measuring retail store and shop fit-outs against KPIs linked to store-level P&L performance, using insights to inform design strategies that enhance productivity and drive commercial results.
Experience overseeing end-to-end global rollouts, ensuring concept integrity while adapting to regional market needs.
Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and V-Ray, with the ability to train and mentor team members on these tools.
Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
