The Team
Within the Tommy Jeans Women’s design team, our mission is to create collections that embody accessible lifestyle luxury, delivering products that surprise, engage and perform commercially while staying true to the brand – at all times we ensure alignment with the company's overarching growth drivers such as Win With Best Product and Win With Best Consumer Engagement. This team is based at the PVH headquarters in Amsterdam.
The Position
This full-time role will support the knits and jersey design team and the knitted product development including tops, dresses, and bottoms. You will work closely together with your fellow design peers to build a cohesive collection and drive the design vision against the Classic American Cool brand DNA. Through day-to-day mentorship by the Senior Designer Knits, you will learn to build an exciting, yet commercial product range - from essential to fashion styles - based on seasonal creative direction, sales, market needs and current trends befitting the Tommy Jeans brand. Collaborating with the larger product team such as Product Development, Merchandising and Tech, the aim is to offer the Tommy Jeans consumer the very best product possible. You will report into the Design Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day collaboration with the Senior Designer Knits.
Provide support to the larger knits team depending on need, and together deliver the creative vision from initial idea to final product.
Conduct product research across the competitor landscape and fashion media based on the brand DNA, buy-now-wear-now consumer trends, and the creative concept.
Support with the creation of seasonal vendor sourcing briefs to ensure news value in quality, silhouette, trimmings and finishes.
Support with sketching into the knits product range resulting in a clear, commercial build-up through the fashion pyramid and elevate the product through designing into high value for money across all price points.
Support with creation of complete garment work sheets/ tech packs to communicate design ideas with the vendors as well as the Product Development and Tech teams to ensure a high-quality product outcome.
Upload and update techpacks into PLM throughout the various milestones.
Assist in fittings and see to the administrative follow-up throughout the various phases in the design development process.
Prep and present design ideas to key stakeholders, both digitally and in-person.
Note: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those listed above. The role may require additional tasks and duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and organisation.
Requirements:
A Bachelor degree in Fashion Design (apparel) or an equivalent design diploma.
2+ years of related work experience in design, preferably in womenswear and the knit categories.
Solid comprehension of knit / jersey construction.
A strong grasp of the Tommy Jeans Classic Amercian Cool brand DNA.
A feminine, creative, yet commercial design handwriting.
A keen eye for current trends and the ability to adapt these to the Tommy Jeans consumer.
Time management; can work towards short deadlines, multitask, and is flexible with tasks given on a day-to-day basis.
Organisational skills; can keep an overview working across multiple categories, and collaborating with the larger knits team.
Has a hands-on, collaborative mentality and strong interpersonal skills.
Technically skilled in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, e.a. technical CAD sketching.
Strong communication skills and an aptitude in the English language both verbal and in writing.
