About the job
The Pattern Cutter is a specialist individual contributor within the Technical Development team. The role develops, adapts and maintains patterns and approved block libraries, translating design direction into technically feasible garments that meet established fit, quality and construction standards.

Working within agreed seasonal objectives, the Pattern Cutter supports new silhouette development, contributes technical recommendations throughout the fit and development process, and manages assigned priorities across the product-development critical path. The role resolves straightforward technical issues using established methods and aligns material exceptions or changes with the relevant technical lead.

Key responsibilities, including but not limited to

  • Develop, adapt and maintain patterns from design sketches, reference garments, approved blocks and technical specifications, balancing design intent with fit, construction and production feasibility.
  • Maintain approved block libraries and associated version control, ensuring patterns are accurate, current and applied consistently; identify and recommend updates for review.
  • Support the development of new seasonal silhouettes by translating agreed design direction into pattern solutions within established fit, construction and technical standards.
  • Prepare for and participate in fit sessions with Design, Merchandising and Product Development; assess fit, balance, comfort, proportion and construction and provide clear technical recommendations.
  • Document fit decisions and comments accurately, implement agreed pattern amendments and maintain traceability across patterns, samples and product records.
  • Analyze and resolve straightforward fit and pattern issues using established methods; evaluate practical options and escalate unfamiliar, material or higher-risk exceptions to the relevant technical lead.
  • Consider the impact of pattern changes on garment construction, sizing, fabric behavior and supplier capability, communicating technical implications before agreed changes are implemented.
  • Partner with Product Development, Supply Chain, suppliers and Quality Assurance to communicate pattern and fit requirements, investigate deviations and support timely corrective action across the assigned global supply base.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and timely information in the Product Lifecycle Management system and related pattern systems, in line with technical standards and approval processes.
  • Independently manage and regularly reassess assigned pattern, sample and fit priorities against the seasonal critical path; anticipate dependencies, communicate timing or capacity risks early and align revised sequencing or scope with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support sample readiness, fit-session preparation, technical analysis and reporting required for seasonal product development.

  • Builds productive internal and external working relationships and communicates technical information and recommendations clearly in written and spoken English.
  • Independently organizes a varied workload, adapts plans as seasonal needs change and communicates dependencies, constraints and realistic timelines before quality or delivery is affected.
  • Demonstrates strong accuracy and data integrity and considers design intent, product quality, timing and supplier implications when making recommendations.
  • Acts in line with PVH values, including individuality, passion, accountability, partnership and integrity.
