The Position:
The Senior Manager, Global Disaster Recovery, provides strategic leadership in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Global PVH Disaster Recovery Program, serving as the key liaison between IT and Corporate Business Continuity. This role requires close collaboration with the Application, Technology, and Security teams, as well as the Business Continuity team, to coordinate annual testing and program reviews.
The primary focus is to ensure a comprehensive capability to recover systems and operations with minimal operational risk, while preparing the company for future changes in geography, products, and technology, and minimizing costs. Key focus areas include global strategy, business impact analysis, planning, and continuous improvement.
Determine the scope of the DR plan, including the critical systems, applications, and infrastructure that need recovery. Set clear objectives, such as recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
Choose appropriate disaster recovery strategies, such as data backups, redundant systems, cloud-based recovery, or warm/cold site setups, based on risk appetite, budget, and technological considerations.
Develop detailed procedures for the recovery of critical systems, data, and infrastructure. Include steps for damage assessment, communication, system restoration, and testing.
Ensure the DR plan is aligned with the organization's broader business continuity plan to create a cohesive response to disruptions.
Keep key stakeholders informed of any updates or changes to the DR plan to maintain support and ensure coordination during a disaster.
Key Responsibilities:
DR Planning Framework
Develop and maintain a Global Disaster Recovery Plan
Technical recovery planning, execution of disaster recovery tests, identification of vulnerabilities, and development of mitigation strategies.
Coordination and management of recovery efforts, maintaining disaster recovery plans, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, and leading cross-functional teams in disaster recovery initiatives.
Overseeing the entire disaster recovery program, aligning it with business continuity and corporate strategies, managing resources and budgets, and ensuring continuous improvement and readiness through regular testing and reviews.
Continuously monitor changes in the business environment, technology landscape, and regulatory requirements that may impact the DR plan.
Ensure corporate awareness of disaster recovery program
Business Alignment
Ensure the DR plan is aligned with the organization's broader business continuity plan to create a cohesive response to disruptions.
Keep key stakeholders informed of any updates or changes to the DR plan to maintain support and ensure coordination during a disaster.
Work with business units to identify the most critical processes and systems and their dependencies.
Evaluate the impact of potential disruptions on the organization, including financial, operational, reputational, and regulatory impacts.
Establish priorities for recovery based on the impact assessment and set RTOs and RPOs accordingly.
Implement and Test the DR Plan
Ensure that all necessary infrastructure, tools, and resources are in place to execute the DR plan effectively.
Schedule regular testing of the DR plan, including tabletop exercises, live drills, and full-scale simulations, to evaluate its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Analyze test results to identify gaps, weaknesses, or areas for improvement. Document lessons learned and update the DR plan accordingly.
Provide ongoing training and awareness sessions for employees and stakeholders involved in the DR process to ensure they are familiar with their roles and responsibilities.
Execution
When a disaster occurs, directs the disaster recovery efforts, including the crisis communication plan and document recovery process.
In the event of the need to execute a recovery plan, coordinates the establishment of the command center. Define strategy for initial on-site activity including identification of appropriate methods for protection of assets including equipment, premises, and documentation.
By integrating these responsibilities, the Senior Manager, Global Disaster Recovery, ensures a resilient and adaptable disaster recovery program that aligns with the company’s overall business continuity strategy.
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in the field of disaster recovery, with a proven track record of developing and maintaining disaster recovery frameworks, and business impact analysis.
Strong knowledge of information technology.
Strong leadership skills including conflict resolution and negotiation.
Excellent communication skills – oral, written, interviewing, presentation, etc.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills including the ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze and recommend courses of action.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or equivalent accreditation
Experience in developing and implementing in-house (as opposed to outsourced) solutions for critical application disaster recovery.
An in-depth knowledge of all types of disasters, natural or otherwise, and their effect on company technologies and operations
Experience with internal audits and frameworks like Sarbanes-Oxley
