The head office for the DACH and EEC markets, covering 13 countries with more than 2.700 employees, is located in Düsseldorf and is the main location of around 500 employees.
 

To strengthen our presence in our markets, we are looking for a strategic yet hands-on Director Business Development (m/f/x).
This role focuses on strategic alignment, operational execution, and supporting local management in implementing regional and global strategies at the local level.

We are seeking someone who thrives in a role that functions like an in-house consulting partner—combining strategic thinking with operational excellence and a strong ability to translate high-level direction into actionable initiatives. A day in the life of a Director Business Development (m/f/x):

  • Leadership & Team Development
    Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

  • Strategy & Execution
    Translate global and regional strategies into actionable local initiatives. Identify growth opportunities and support strategic decision-making.

  • Management Support
    Deliver comprehensive support to senior management, including preparation and follow-up for meetings and projects. Ensure operational readiness and continuity through structured planning and documentation

  • Project & Portfolio Management
    Manage and prioritize strategic projects aligned with regional goals. Ensure successful execution and measurable impact.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Act as the key interface between local teams and global functions. Align priorities and drive outcomes in close partnership with senior leadership.

  • Operational & Change Support
    Provide hands-on support for key initiatives and lead change management efforts at the local level.
     

What do we need from you? You have:

  • A university degree, advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.) or equivalent

  • At least 6-8 years of experience in consulting, in-house consulting or project management with relevant leadership experience and a track record of leading, coaching and developing people

  • Experience in FMCG/ Retail and Transformation/ Change Management is a plus

  • The ability to drive strategy with a strong hands-on mindset, leading by example, inspiring the rest of the group to adapt the desired behavior

  • Capacity to develop concepts and turn these into practical operational initiatives

  • Experience leading change management efforts in a global business operation
