The Team

Fitting within the wider Global Brand Marketing team (GBM), PVH STUDIOS (PVHS) produces over 175,000 image assets each year primarily for the brands’ global e-commerce websites.  From its new state-of-the-art 23,500 sq. ft. facility in Amsterdam, PVHS strives to blend operational excellence with creative elevation to ensure best-in-class digital fashion consumer experiences, every day. With 9 fully equipped e-commerce bays running on the latest technology, 2 Editorial Studios with drive-in capacity, a still-life studio, equipment room, sample management area, cafe with full menu, kitchen, offices, meeting rooms and chill-out spaces - it is truly one-of-a-kind.

The Position

Reporting into the PVH Studios Senior Creative Manager, the Imaging Manager role manages the technical elements of still-life and on-model photography and videography. This relates to the setup, creation and delivery of product detail page visual content, predominantly for digital e-commerce platforms.

The role balances commercial, brand, logistical and strategic considerations, focused on technical expertise and implementation. The primary objective is to facilitate shoot readiness and output of consistent imagery, accurate in product representation, in high volumes. The secondary purpose is to manage equipment inventory and drive scalability in an efficient and cost-effective manner. 

Governing the technical aspects of content creation against brand and commercial quality standards, the Imaging Manager closely collaborates with the functions of art direction, planning, production and post-production. A typical day would range from a lighting build up to conducting an equipment inventory check, from recording a lighting schematic to painting props, from calibrating white balance across multiple sets to troubleshooting computer system crashes.

The role requires a daily approach in effective communication across multiple functions, robust prioritisation skills, solution driven actions, nimble workflow efficiency, facilitation mindset and a leader in navigating through subjective ambiguity.

The Responsibilities

  • Manage all technical aspects of content creation and output at PVH Studios across photography and videography for On-Model, Still-Life Table-Top, Over-Head, Hanging-Flat and On-Bust production.
  • Both lead and facilitate teams consisting of vendors, freelance and full-time associates regarding technical aspects of content creation.
  • Closely collaborate with art directors, producers and post-production teams to consistently align to brand and aesthetic quality bar.
  • Ensure all content output is accurate to product representation, captured consistently across production types and aligned to brand expression through systematic and routine checks.
  • Based on brand guidelines, develop and maintain studio specific guidelines and standard operating procedures of digital content creation, accounting for lighting, white balance, colour grading, cameras, lenses, capture one setting, equipment, inventory, setup, props, calibration, asset delivery systems and IT.
  • Design, build and record studio light shaping schematics, equipment, camera and capture one setting for On-Model and Still-Life production and secondary pre-styling and marketing content production.
  • Conduct and sign-off daily lighting, white balance, position and output values are accurate and consistent against brand guidelines for model, product and background across all operational shoot bays.
  • Ensure bays are optimised on space optimisation, camera and capture one setting to support primary On-Model and Still-Life production and secondary pre-styling and marketing content production.
  • Define workflow process and be point of contact for technical troubleshooting and support for shoot set digital operators and photographers.
  • Support and point of contact in smooth, operational function of IT hardware and software solutions at the studio, including programs, computers, tablets, phones, monitors, printers, storage, speakers and cables.
  • Maintenance in light shaping, equipment and IT wear and tear, cleaning dust build up on power-pack safety exercises.
  • Manage, source, track and communicate studio equipment and IT inventory with updated information on quantities, status, cost and contact. 
  • General studio tidiness and presentation, support in updating and adherence of studio handbook standard operating procedures for loan of shoot bays to external parties.
  • Budget management for studio equipment and IT requirements.
  • Drive efficiencies of cost, time and scalability for content creation.
  • Drive alignment and consolidation in content capture and output across support studios such as line-book, wholesale, franchise and regional digital asset creation.
  • Continuously identify, test and implement aesthetic and process improvements through new and relevant innovation and technology.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has at least 7-10 x years’ experience in a lead photography, videography and digital imaging role, within high-volume, e-commerce fashion businesses.
  • Is highly experienced in lighting setup and light shaping in a scalable and replicable manner, familiar with Profoto and Broncolor lighting systems.
  • Is proficient in Adobe, Capture One, Creative Force, Microsoft and Outlook.
  • Has a background in balancing creative with commercial, brand expression and operational logistics in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Boasts an elevated creative and e-commerce portfolio resonating with contemporary fashion consumers.
  • Is experienced in driving automation and standardising workflows through a cost, time and space effective approach.
  • Is detail oriented in visual accuracy and consistency.
  • Has an excellent communication and collaboration skillset.
  • Is competent and resourceful in supplier and stakeholder management.
  • Is confident in navigating ambiguity with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Is agile and nimble on approach in facilitating technical solutions.
  • Holds experience in inventory keeping and reporting.
  • Takes ownership, collaborates to win, make informed decisions and adapt fast.
  • Has a track-record of inspiring, managing and directing creative teams.
