Director, Corporate Communications - PVH

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Director of External Communications is an experienced strategic communications leader responsible for driving global external communications strategies and narratives to enhance and protect PVH’s corporate reputation. This key role will direct the development and execution of external communications, including media relations, executive communications, crisis management, financial communications and thought leadership with the goal of driving awareness and understanding of the company’s vision, performance and progress among a variety of stakeholders. Reporting to the VP of External Communications, this role will be an important partner with PVH’s executive, brand, regional and functional teams to shape culture and drive high performance. A successful candidate will play a critical role in helping the company build Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger into the most desirable lifestyle brands in the world and make PVH one of the highest performing brand groups in its sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with VP of External Communications and team to build and launch next generation external communications strategies to enhance and protect PVH’s corporate reputation.
  • Create and execute compelling corporate narratives and content that support business goals and priorities and drives thought leadership and differentiation.
  • Lead executive visibility and thought leadership programs, including awards, rankings, conferences and other external forums.
  • Develop and execute an editorial strategy that cuts across all corporate channels
  • Develop and build strong relationships with key industry stakeholders and business media reporters, including financial, trade and business press.
  • Partner with VP of External Communications and Chief Communications Officer on the execution of financial communications to support key corporate events, including quarterly earnings and strategic financial news.
  • Manage and implement crisis communications strategies to anticipate and mitigate risks, manage issues and reactive media, and steer post-crisis recovery.
  • Partner with senior leadership and relevant partners to deliver timely and impactful external communications and compelling corporate narratives.
  • Create clear and compelling communications materials, including leadership briefs, press releases, key messages, Q&As and proactive/reaction press materials.
  • Celebrate company culture and promote PVH values; Leverage communications to support an inclusive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization through excellent written and verbal communications skills; Translate complex challenges into simple and clear communications.
  • Leverage entrepreneurial mindset and data-driven approach to continuously test, iterate and evolve programming to achieve improved results over time.
  • Manage ambiguous and challenging tasks.
  • Take initiative and personal accountability to lead oneself, meet deadlines and deliverables.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7-10 years of experience managing comprehensive strategic communications and media relations programs to advance PVH’s mission and goals. A strong background in journalism is welcomed.
  • Extensive understanding of earned media, social media and media measurement; proven experience working with top-tier media globally, including financial, trade and mainstream, along with exceptional capability in drafting compelling communication, key messages and corporate narratives.
  • Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into simple, clear, and effective communications. Impeccable verbal and communications and people skills.
  • Strong knowledge of best-in-class external communications practices and proficiency with next generation communications tools.
  • Ability to articulate and represent the voice of PVH and its leaders.
  • Strong business acumen (experience in retail, apparel and/or consumer industries a plus) with proven ability to connect business goals and objectives with communications strategies for maximum impact.
  • Proven experience developing thought leadership strategies, including traditional and social media strategies, that company goals to broader themes and industry trends.
  • Demonstrate a learning mindset, critical thinking skills and strong problem-solving capabilities; Sees the opportunity and possibility in challenges; Enjoys making the impossible possible.
  • Comfort and confidence working alongside senior executives in fast-paced, high stakes situations; Proven ability to successfully influence, facilitate and partner with leaders in all levels.
  • Ability to roll up one’s sleeves and execute; Track record of producing excellent results. 
  • Hyper attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Successful at relationship building and collaborating across a highly matrixed global environment; Willingness to work across different time zones to ensure strong alignment and seamless execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English or related field.
  • Ability to tailor schedule to meet the needs of a global organization.

Pay Range:$175,000 - $200,000

PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills.
