Manager, Visual Merchandising, Asia Pacific

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Regional Visual Merchandising Manager for Calvin Klein, you are responsible for overseeing and managing the visual presentation of how Calvin Klein – Apparel & Accessories is represented in the Regional marketplace.  This position will focus on creating appealing and consistent visual displays in showroom, retail, and wholesale environments. This role involves collaborating with cross functional teams, creating visually engaging product displays that align with the brand’s key principles.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Implement the global visual merchandising strategy, aligning the brand’s overall business objectives.

  • Ensure consistency in visual presentation across various markets in APAC while adapting to local nuances and preferences, setting and maintaining the brands VM principles.

  • Manage the APAC showroom and support APAC and Local market launch, which includes partnering with local VMs in aligning with scheduling, floor mapping, zoning, and copy/image briefs in supporting local market business needs.

  • Collaborate with Global VM partners and Regional merchandising teams on must buys and key looks when adapting to APAC showrooms set up for market launch, inclusive of key seasonal stories, consumer messaging needs and bespoke visual displays. 

  • Collaborate with global VM partners on adaptation and issuance of Regional guidelines. Align with Regional Merchandising and Marketing partners to understand regional buys to be captured in the execution of the regional guideline.

  • Collaborate with Global VM team to adapt regional VM Principle guidelines for the apparel and accessories category incorporating regional nuance.  Partner with Global VM and set up regular trainings and workshops with Local VM partners to ensure a consistent execution be cascaded to local markets on a seasonal basis. 

  • Partner with Regions, Markets and local retail partners to establish an understanding of local business and consumer environment on a consistent basis to ensure the apparel category is always being presented to the Global standard but allowing flexibility to adapt to the local consumer needs and business trends.

  • Support the regional VM team to plan and manage local showroom executions, visual merchandising guideline proposals, key mannequin looks, and brand activations.

  • Establish regular visits to support market’s instore merchandising whilst to coach, train and develop local VMs to ensure they are self-sufficient and maximizing the sales returns within the region.

  • Build a rapport with local retail teams to meet regularly for store photo review, listening to their feedback and using the information to make informed decisions in-stores.

  • Provide training to local, market, and in-store visual teams when visiting markets to maximize product visibility and create an appealing experience for the consumer.

  • Support local market’s store openings and store re-models.

  • Work with the Store Design & Development team to review product floorplans and new store openings to ensure that they match back to the key VM principles.

  • Flexibility to travel.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience & Education: University graduate or equivalent in Visual Merchandising Design / Design / Graphic Design, Fashion Retail, or a minimum of 8 years' VM experiences as equivalent

Skills:

  • Clear understanding on Local and Global Fashion trends, VM competitors and inspirational references

  • Strong fashion sense in styling, outfit co-ordination, floor merchandising & trends

  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.

  • Detailed- minded, independent & presentable; able to prioritize job tasks in tight timelines & in an organized manner.

  • Good verbal and written communication in English, as well as spoken fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin.

  • Excellent software knowledge of:

    • MS Office including Outlook, Excel + PowerPoint.

    • Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Acrobat)

    • SketchUp + Plugins (a plus)

    • AutoCAD (a plus)

    • Good communications and interpersonal skills
