Lino Miranda,
Global Consumer Experience Intern

I’m originally from Brazil and moved to Portugal for high school. After graduation, I found myself at a crossroads because I enjoyed many different subjects. I decided to give Mechanical Engineering a try and ended up studying in Enschede. I started working part-time in Amsterdam at People’s Place, managing hospitality for PVH. This ranged from serving coffee to hosting high-level events, which sparked my interest in the fashion industry. After a year, I realized that Mechanical Engineering wasn’t the right fit for me. I loved Amsterdam, so I decided to switch gears and study Communication Sciences to pursue a career in marketing. I couldn’t be happier with my choice. When it came time to find an internship, I heard about an opportunity at Tommy Hilfiger and jumped at it. This internship has opened many doors in fashion and marketing, and while I’m still figuring out my exact path, I’m excited about the future.

A day in life as an intern

As a Global Consumer Experience intern, I help enhance how consumers interact with our brand across all commercial touchpoints to make Tommy Hilfiger the most desirable lifestyle brand. This includes everything from in-store activations to sale signage and much more. For example, if you get a tote bag with your purchase, our team’s efforts are behind it. A typical day starts with grabbing a matcha to kickstart my morning. Once at my desk, I check my emails and calendar for the day’s meetings. My meetings usually begin around 11 AM, so I spend the early hours getting organized for them. Throughout the day, I work on various projects together with my team who always guide me through if needed. I also make sure to fit in a gym session, either during lunch or after work, to keep me energized.

My favorite event

One event that stands out for me is the Tommy Cares volunteering day. We spent the day playing sports with kids from disadvantaged areas of Amsterdam. I love kids, so this was incredibly fun and rewarding. Another highlight was our "Ask Me Anything" session with Martijn, our former CEO of PVH Europe. Hearing about his journey and experiences was very inspiring.

What is my favorite place on campus?

A place on campus you love. My favorite place on campus is the restaurant and Bel Bar. I visit both daily for the great food, drinks, and vibes. Also, the Bel Bar transforms into a social drinks event every Thursday, perfect for connecting with new associates and expanding my network.

My role model during the internship

My manager, Tessa Tutuarima, has been an incredible role model throughout my internship. From the application process to navigating my tasks, Tessa has been supportive every step of the way. Even when my role shifted due to budget changes, she ensured I always had meaningful work. Our weekly catch-ups were invaluable, providing feedback and guidance that made my internship truly worthwhile. I can’t thank her enough for all her support!

My team members delegated various tasks to me, ensuring I had a comprehensive understanding of marketing at Tommy Hilfiger. Their support and collaboration were key to making my internship a personal success.
