Mia Zeiger,
Talent Acquisition Intern

In 2021, I decided to move to Amsterdam to study Communication Science. This field offered the perfect blend of science and humanities that I was looking for. With experience in both agency and start-up environments, I was eager to explore something new for my internship. While searching for opportunities on LinkedIn, I discovered the TA Internship at PVH. The hands-on nature of the position immediately caught my attention, as I wanted to gain as much practical experience as possible. The interview process further fueled my excitement, and an on-site interview at the PVH office confirmed that this internship was exactly what I was seeking. A few days later, I received a call from Nathalie with promising news, confirming that my dedication and hard work had paid off. This is how my journey began!

The people I got to work with

During my internship, I had the opportunity to work with people from various departments, for which I am incredibly grateful. In addition to working with the dedicated and helpful Talent Acquisition team, I also collaborated on a project with the Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) team, participated in several events with the People's Place Team, and engaged with many other colleagues. What I adored most about working with such a diverse group of people was the wealth of knowledge and expertise everyone brought to the table. The people at PVH are truly experts in their fields.  This collaborative and inclusive environment made my internship a truly enriching experience.

A typical day
as a TA intern

I usually start my workday around 9 am with a coffee at our amazing in-house Bel Bar, which is far better than any coffee shop in the city. While there, I either chat with my colleagues or review the tasks I need to complete before the end of the day. After my morning coffee, I handle administrative tasks such as scheduling and responding to emails, followed by meetings until around noon. I then take a lunch break with my team members or fellow interns at our buffet-style restaurant, which offers a wide range of delicious options. After lunch, I set aside 30 minutes to respond to messages and emails. The rest of my afternoon includes one or two meetings and addressing any questions related to the Early Talent Program. One of the highlights of my role has been organizing numerous events for our intern cohort, and seeing these plans come to life has been incredibly rewarding.

For a month during my internship, I had the chance to join the Events team. During this period, my days were quite different, with fewer administrative tasks and more hands-on activities. This experience added a dynamic element to my internship, making it even more fulfilling.

New perspective

Whenever I visit Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein stores, I am always struck by how neat and slightly intimidating they appear. The customer service is consistently exceptional. Having had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented individuals at PVH, my admiration for these brands has only deepened. That is exactly what Talent Acquisition does – they hand pick the talent and promote our open positions. Witnessing the meticulous planning that brings these stores to life has been an eye-opening experience. Reflecting on the stores now, I am truly impressed by the extensive planning. I perceive both brands in a completely different light - they are not just two outstanding clothing companies, but they also represent a place of cherished memories and invaluable learning experiences.

Favorite event

My favorite event was the cooking workshop we hosted with the Early Talent Team. The interns were divided into two groups for a taco cooking competition. It was incredibly fun and brought our cohort much closer together. It genuinely felt like I was spending time with friends I've known for ages. Another highlight was the fantastic volunteering event we participated in. We had the opportunity to do sports with elementary school kids from less well-off areas in Amsterdam.  Both events were truly memorable and strengthened our connections within the community.

Favorite place on campus

I must say, the EMEA HQ Campus that PVH has in Amsterdam is truly amazing. It's vibrant, modern, and filled with a variety of places to visit. One of the most surprising features for me was the small brow and lash bar on campus. However, my favorite spot is the terrace on the 12th floor of the Hudson Building. It offers a stunning view of the canal, where you can watch boats pass by and enjoy the good weather.

What I will take with me from my internship at PVH

I learned so much during my internship at PVH. I won't dwell too much on the technical skills like website management, Excel, building SharePoint sites, interview scheduling etc. etc. etc.—I could go on for paragraphs. However, the most significant takeaway for me was the importance of making connections and always staying curious. Many opportunities, such as joining the events team, came my way because I was proactive and eager to connect with colleagues from different departments. It's crucial to be honest with yourself and prioritize the things that genuinely interest you. At PVH, everyone wants you to succeed and get the most out of your six months. If you stay on top of your tasks and keep your eyes open for new opportunities, anything is possible. This supportive environment has shown me the value of curiosity and connection in professional growth.
