Integrated Demand Planning Intern

My journey started as a bachelor's student in 2019 in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is truly a bridge between me and the connections, people & opportunities I have been given. I worked for West Coast Supply Group, IDEXX B.V during my studies. At the moment I am working as a Supply Planning Intern for the Integrated Demand Planning team. Those experiences have taught me about consciousness, connecting, curiosity, convincing, & so many lessons that I would love to bring into my future career. During my internship at PVH, I had the opportunity to meet people who contributed to my growth and also inspired me to choose my thesis topic: “How IDP team assess the quality & maturity of the IDP process at PVH”. My journey will continue as my passion for the fashion industry and long-life learning lead me to seek practical knowledge through experiences. For the next step, I am open to new opportunities as a career starter.

Typical day at work

My day as a Supply Chain Planning Intern at PVH Corp starts with a morning meeting with my mentor. We discuss the day's priorities, review any updates from the previous day, and outline any urgent tasks. This meeting helps ensure we are aligned and that I understand what is expected from me. After the meeting, I usually dive into my primary task of supporting and maintaining the forecast collection process at the beginning of the Integrated Demand Planning cycle. This involves creating forecast templates, gathering data from various departments, and inputting it into our planning system. SAP BW and Pigment are the main software that the team has frequently used. After the forecast collection phase was completed, I supported the team in running analyses on sales forecast data to identify trends, growth opportunities, or misaligned expectations. This helps in making informed business decisions. I also worked on my thesis project in parallel with daily tasks with the topic “Integrated Demand Planning metrics” & final presentations for my team. This internship also provides me with a unique opportunity to look into the kitchen of other teams such as Integrated Supply Planning & Integrated Business Planning. I have learned more about supply chain planning in those teams as well.

During my internship, I have found that the team has given me many opportunities for mentorship and support during my internship, which has helped me improve both personally and professionally. I appreciate the supportive environment that encourages me to seek advice and feel confident in my growth. Additionally, my team cultivates a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere that encourages me to go the extra mile. I will also miss the joy and laughter that were in our daily work. Whenever I worked on a project, the team would support & offer feedback to help me continuously grow.

Favorite event

There are many events that I joined from the start of my internship until now. In general, I love them all! But if I had to pick, I would say the Summer Market Launch event would impress me the most. We got to see professional presentations live with new collections, had a chance to listen to experts in the fashion industry & met Tommy Hilfiger. It was a special event that I will never forget. From that event, I realized I was in for an adventure!

Favorite place on campus

I love to have a drink at Bel Bar on Thursday weekly. It's a place where I can connect with colleagues while enjoying Amsterdam's stunning views. Bel Bar is also the place that holds many activities such as Pub Quiz, Summer party, or just a morning coffee run with colleagues.

What I will take with me from my internship at PVH

I have learned so much since starting my adventure at PVH. It has been an amazing experience filled with countless opportunities for growth and development. Out of all the knowledge I've acquired, the following lesson that sticks out to me is the importance of collaboration and teamwork. Working at PVH has shown me that great ideas and successful projects often come from collective effort rather than individual work. The synergy within teams and the open communication channels have taught me how valuable diverse perspectives are in driving innovation and achieving goals. The culture of mutual support and cooperation not only fosters creativity but also ensures that every team member feels valued and heard. This lesson has not only enhanced my professional skills but also enriched my approach to problem-solving and project management. I have come to appreciate the significance of each team member's contribution, no matter how small, to the overall success of a project. Moreover, the mentorship and guidance I received from experienced colleagues have been instrumental in my learning journey, providing me with insights and knowledge that textbooks alone cannot offer. Overall, my time at PVH has been a transformative experience that has prepared me well for future challenges and opportunities in my career.
