The Position

  • As a Specialist store & FF&E design, your main responsibility is to support the design of Retail & SIS environments, creating FF&E designs & /or reviewing spatial layouts meeting the provided briefs.
  • You partner closely with the Sr Specialist store & concept design in creating (new) store layouts in 2D and 3D, ensuring these can be shared with the relevant stakeholders for review.
  • Together with the (senior) managers in the team, you pro-actively brainstorm about FF&E design solutions to support business requests and new concepts- you thereafter own the FF&E design process under supervision from your manager, ensuring the required design intent drawings are provided to the vendors for successful detailing & executon.
  • You support the review of project DDPs.
  • You review FF&E upon delivery, trouble shooting together with the vendors when required.
  • Your position requires in depth technical and analytical thinking.
  • You report into the Senior Manager- Store design.

Key responsibilities

  • Work proactively and collaboratively within the store concept & design team to support  the development of new store concepts by providing FF&E designs fit for purpose
  • Create all required information for these designs to be included in concepts to be presented to Leadership
  • Compile all detailed information for the designs to be clearly conveyed to external vendors, follow FF&E design processes from concept to delivery
  • Monuitor user & business feedback with the aim of continuously adapating and improving designs
  • Help the team ensure the commerciality of new fixtures and layouts proposed by the team meet the brief (capacity, flexibility, durability)
  • Create 2D and 3D layouts in support of new concept or project initatives; review w store dvpt teams in the case of a new concept launch
  • Collaborate on design administration, helping ensure the global fixture & concept library is maintained and fit for purpose
  • Support showroom and mock store project initiatives as required within your scope

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years’ design experience working at a design or architecture agency
  • Degree in architecture, industrial design or similar qualification and/or experience
  • A balance between creative, technical and analytical thinking; able to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent detailing, value engineering and knowledge in use of material for interior design and furniture construction 
  • Proficient understanding of commercial and brand equity requirements
  • Knowledge of the relation between material and design choices versus the cost level, sustainability and sourcing/production of the designed element 
  • Ability to actively participate in a project task, efficient communication, organization, time management, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop/ creative cloud and related software skills; rendering skills
  • Ability to travel
