The Team
Within the Full Price Buying & Merchandising team, our mission is to ensure the Global Full Price product strategy is adapted to meet the specific needs of the region to maximise DTC performance & wholesale growth, and to ensure operational readiness across Full Price & Outlet buying teams. This position serves as the backbone of the Full Price team, collaborating closely with Hubs and wider CK teams to drive overall commercial performance. With an integral position in the team, the role contributes significantly to the department’s operational efficiency, strategic growth and overall success.
The Position
The Senior Buyer DTC will report into the Buying Manager and support in managing product assortments across European Full Price Retail Stores and ecommerce. The Senior Buyer will take a leading role in developing and executing DTC buying strategies that drive product performance, sales growth, and profitability. This role requires strategic oversight, leadership, and advanced market analysis to influence business direction, manage high-level product assortments, and lead cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Product Assortment & Strategy Leadership: Lead the development and execution of product assortments for DTC channels, ensuring alignment with company goals and market trends. Make strategic decisions regarding product selection, tiering, and pricing to drive profitability and meet customer demand.
• Sales & Market Performance Leadership: Analyze and interpret sales data, market dynamics, and competitor activity. Develop actionable insights and strategic recommendations to adjust buying strategies, optimize product performance, and capitalize on emerging trends.
• Demand Forecasting & Inventory Optimization: Ensure product availability aligns with sales projections, while optimizing inventory levels to avoid overstocking and stockouts.
• Product Lifecycle & Margin Management: Oversee the product lifecycle, including product selection, replenishment, markdown strategies, and phase-outs. Work with the team to ensure products are managed effectively to maximize margin and sales performance throughout the lifecycle.
• Strategic Meeting & Reporting: Lead key meetings such as Assortment Reviews, Business Strategy Discussions, and Monthly Business Overviews. Provide insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, guiding key decisions on future buys and product assortment strategies.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with Marketing, Ecom, Planning, Visual Merchandising, and other key stakeholders to ensure that product assortments align with brand and marketing strategies. Take charge of cross-functional initiatives and lead the execution of Go-to-Market strategies and product launches.
• Leadership & Team Development: Mentor and develop junior buying team members, providing guidance and strategic direction to help them grow within the role. Lead by example, driving a culture of collaboration, accountability, and results.
Measures of Success
Product selection and trend responsiveness: high levels of assortment success including sell out performance of new collections, speed to market for new trends, exclusive product performance
Sales & profitability performance: high ROI per product category, sell through rate and average unit retail
Stock efficiency: high levels of stock turnover rate, weeks of supply and stock to sales ratio
Range & option count, sell through rate, net sales and inventory levels
Requirements
• Able to work in a fast paced, matrix based, challenging environment. Strong influencing skills with experience in managing cross functional teams and marketplace execution.
• Proven analytical, planning and organization skills with the ability to generate meaningful data insight to take commercial decisions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both regional and global teams.
• Problem solving: advanced understanding of how to solve complex problems and critically assess the solutions required
• Commercial Acumen: Advanced business and commercial acumen skills.
• Fluent English both written and verbal.
• Ability to travel as needed for market visits, trade meetings, and store events.
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
