The Team
The TOMMY HILFIGER Womenswear team manages both Mainline and Runway, it sits within the greater PVH campus based in Amsterdam. You will be designing for the Hilfiger lifestyle brand, presenting four collections annually in partnership with Production, Sourcing & Development, Buying & Planning and Merchandising & Sales.
The Position
The Senior Designer requires a strong understanding of the Soft Woven category with experience designing dresses, woven tops and blouses, shirting, and occasion wear as well as runway product. They will lead the development of silhouette and fabric, and build out concepts briefed by the Creative Director, ensuring clear storytelling and themes fitting within brand-right collections.
They will report into the Woven Design Director and will partner another Senior Designer. They will also mentor a Junior Designer within the core soft woven team.
Key Responsibilities:
Researching and identifying trends that work within the Tommy Hilfiger brand strategy, translating these into product in line with the seasonal concept direction.
High level fabric knowledge of woven qualities, plus a strong technical understanding of silhouette, construction and finishings.
Translate trends into commercial collections together with the Design Director.
Working to the Divisional Calendar to meet deadlines.
Be able to work to a commercial Range Plan each season, collaborating with the Merchandising team on best seller management, essential product, and seasonal newness.
Preparing all sketches for divisional digital presentations and to focus on the follow up of each style.
Prepare all selected and confirmed styles to be digitalized, with garment worksheets and PLM completed to a high standard for sending to joint venture and buying offices globally.
Working closely and communicating daily on challenges and changes that arise during the development of styles. Partner with the Product Developer to ensure a smooth work flow each season.
Understanding and sourcing qualities, trims and details that fit in the Tommy Hilfiger aesthetic.
Work closely with the Design Team to align design aesthetics, seasonal details, and creative big ideas.
Work closely with Tech and Product Development teams on garment fittings, based on block systems and new seasonal complex styles. Ensure all styles are to the highest possible standard and help find solutions to any problems that may come up during the fitting process.
Responsible to follow up on selected sourcing and fabrics each season with the Product Developer. Supports and partners with the Product Developer to execute each style, making sure that the Tommy Hilfiger DNA is seen in every garment.
The Ideal Candidate
Significant experience in a senior designer role, specialised in womenswear dresses, shirt, blouses.
Innovative design research and development processes.
Wide technical knowledge and a great understanding of textiles, garment making & fit.
Excellent eye for colour, detail, and proportion.
High level of awareness and knowledge of current and future trends.
Strong grasp of sustainable fashion solutions and material innovation.
Skills: Strong knowledge in Adobe especially in Adobe Illustrator.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Experience of traveling to vendors for seasonal sourcing and development trips.
